Could we get to know him better?
He's been in automotive industry as a professional and in motor sports as a hobby since 1965
He first sat in a racing car in 1965 in south of France.
In 1968, he made an Asia-Africa tour in the first "Anadol".
Same year, he first raced as a plot in Kenya with the legendary racer Johnny Boyes
He founded the first auto club of Turkey, OTOMOBIL KLÜBÜ DERNEGI, in Ankara in1969.
He made the very first special rally, Hitit Rally, (excluding FIA representative at that time, TTOK)- 1970.
Organised the longest rally of Turkey, CUMHURIYET-1971
Organised the first track race of Turkey at Oran Track in Ankara-1972.
Prepared the first Murat 124 to rally and drove it with Kayhan Kantarc_-1972.
Organised the tour covering all of Mediterranean area, TOUR D'MEDITERRANE with South France Auto Club-1973
Raced in the first Dakar course in UDT World Cup with Ali Sipahi, in separate cars-1974
Established the first brand team, Oyak-Renault and lead the National Team, Champion of national teams in the longest rally, London-Sydney-1977
In Renault 12-Iskender Aruoba/Demir Bükey no.39 and in Renault 12 Aytaç Kot/Kayhan Kantarci no.16.
After that race, he quit racing pilotage. He has more than a hundred articles published in newspapers and magazines. He's writing a book titled "TURKISH AUTO" nowadays.
He's the chairman of Auto Racers' Commission.
Since when Opel Motor Sport has been supporting motor sports of Turkey ?
Opel has given its support non-stop since Opel Motor Sports was founded by Iskender Aruoba and Opel distributors in 1994.
Where will Opel Motorsport go in 2002 season ?
We'll fight for rally and track championships as a team..
How about international races ?
It was economically tough last year and this year so far. We want to participate in international races but it will only be possible if conditions prevail.
Which characteristics differ OMS from other teams ?
OMS is investing in education and research and development, that's the most important difference. OMS has developed "ASTRA F KIT CAR" which was homologed by FIA. Many of the leading pilots racing today have been trained by OMS.
In near future, what are you going to do for non-professionals ?
Since OMS founded, we've been supporting OFT (Opel Fans Team) financially and training them. In addition, we started a program for women pilots, this year.
There's a possibility that one leg each of WRC and F1 will be run in Turkey. How will it affect the plans of Opel Motor Sport ?
OMS appreciates these efforts and supports them but we believe that more work
should be done in spreading "BASIC" auto sport country-wide.
