Third race of the Turkey Track Champ. run on the Izmit Körfez Track between 29-30 Sept.2001. 36 cars participated. In the first group, N and F3 cars competed, in the second group A and N+ cars raced.
On 29 Sept., Saturday, Hamdi Ünal in Opel Corsa Maxi Kitcar could not hit the seeding score due to a failure in his car and he had to start off as the last one.
Ibrahim Okyay in Astra G Kitcar, the most powerful car on the track, was very confident during the seeding. His biggest rival was Tofas-Fiat.
Hakan Bahar was in Astra in group N and was third to start off.
In group N+, Merih Erkal was third and Erdem Çenesiz was fourth to start off
For OMS, Ahmet Burkay, Oguz Bozkurt and Korgün Sengün in group A; Mehmet Pinarbasi in group F3. Hakan Koparan and Kemal Bakir in group N were in seedings.
The race on 30 sept. Sunday was divided into two; group N and F in the first half hour, group A and N+ in the second half.
In the first half hour, Hakan Bahar, Hamdi Ünal, Hakan Kopan, Mehmet Pinarbasi and Kemal Bakir raced.
In the second half, Ibrahim Okyay raced in Astra G Kitcar.
Mehmet Pinarbasi in F3, the other pilot for OMS, came third in his group. Hakan Bahar also came third in his group Kemal Bakir came sixth in group N. Hakan Kopan won the race in group A. In group A, Oguz Bozkurt, the other pilot for OMS was third and Ahmet Burkay was fourth. In group N+, Merih Erkal in Vectra came third.
Races for 2001 season marks champ: climbing 20-21 Oct. in Izmit, rally-cross
on 20-21 Oct. in Ankara, track races on 27-28 Oct. in Izmir.
