First candidate to World Rally Championship, The Anatolian Rally, was run in Antalya between 7 and 9 September 2001. The organisation for 3-days races was pretty successful. Crystal Pyramid had been chosen as the rally centre. There were wo service field, one in Alke Antalya, the other in Kemer. There was also a rally show organisation.
OMS participated in the event with two teams; Hamdi Ünal (who was born in
Antalya) -Çaglar Süren team in Corsa Maxi Kitcar in group F3 and Hakan Bahar-Alp Aksu team in Astra Kitcar in group F2
The rally started at 10:00 on 7 Sept. Friday from Crystal Pyramid with 54 teams.
The first lap was 14.45 kilometer drive in Düzlerçam_ Forest and called Thermessos Lap
Second leg of the rally was 18.94 kilometre Aspendos Special Lap and was run in the forest just like the first lap. The longest lap of the rally was Perge lap and the length
was 28.96 kilometer.
